Anxiety and depression often aren’t the problem- they’re signals from a nervous system that’s been working overtime.
Neurodivergence-affirming therapy helps you understand what your system needs.
Neurodivergence and Anxiety
Neurodivergence often shows up alongside anxiety, depression, or both.
If you’re ADHD, autistic, or AuDHD and feeling anxious or low, this is very common—and understandable. Many neurodivergent adults spend years masking, overthinking, and trying to meet expectations that don’t fit how their brain works. Over time, that strain can turn into chronic anxiety, exhaustion, or self-doubt.
Therapy isn’t about fixing neurodivergence. It’s about learning how to work with your brain instead of against it.
How neurodivergence can fuel anxiety
(and why it’s not a personal failing)
Living in a world that isn’t built for your brain can quietly create a constant state of tension. You may recognize some of this:
Feeling like you’re always behind, no matter how hard you try
Lying awake at night because your thoughts won’t slow down
Replaying conversations, wondering what you should have said or done differently
Carrying that uneasy sense that you’re forgetting something important (and sometimes you are)
Misplacing things over and over, then blaming yourself for it
Worrying about money while also struggling with impulsive spending
Living with a nonstop inner commentary focused on what’s “wrong” with you
Feeling like you’re disappointing people—especially yourself
Overthinking things that others seem to let roll off their backs
Knowing there are so many things you want or need to do, yet feeling frozen
Feeling guilt or shame when time slips away or your energy disappears, and telling yourself you’re lazy or self-sabotaging
Watching your relationships strain because it feels impossible to fully explain what’s happening inside
For many neurodivergent adults, anxiety isn’t separate from ADHD or autism—it grows out of years of trying to keep up, fit in, mask, and make sense of a nervous system that’s always on high alert.
And none of this means you’re broken.
Neurodivergence-affirming therapy can help you:
Understand how your brain works and why certain things feel harder
Reduce anxiety by supporting your nervous system, not pushing it
Let go of shame, self-blame, and the belief that you’re “failing”
Develop strategies that actually fit you
Feel more grounded, understood, and at ease in your life and relationships
When your needs are recognized and supported, anxiety and overwhelm often begin to soften—not because life is perfect, but because you’re no longer constantly fighting yourself.

Energy Management & Nervous System Support
As a neurodivergent person myself, I’ve come to deeply understand the importance of energy management and not just time management. For many neurodivergent adults, energy is a limited and fluctuating resource that directly affects focus, emotional regulation, relationships, and overall well-being.
This awareness is often a core part of my therapy work. Together, we look at how sensory load, masking, stress, health conditions, and life demands impact your nervous system and energy levels. Rather than pushing through or “fixing” yourself, we focus on learning how to work with your energy, honor your capacity, and build sustainable rhythms that support your life as it actually is.
In addition to therapeutic strategies, I’m excited to announce that I’ve become certified in Energy Medicine. I am in the process of offering gentle, complementary energy management work designed to support nervous system regulation, grounding, and restoration. This approach is not a replacement for therapy or medical care, but a supportive option for those who are curious about integrating energy-based practices into their overall self-care.
